Greenfield

去年五月,IBM 的 IT 架構師 Richard Hopkins 和 Kevin Jenkins 合寫了一本書:《Eating the IT Elephant: Moving from Greenfield Development to Brownfield》。

We call it Brownfield to contrast it with the traditional Greenfield development approaches that tend to ignore this complexity. We've borrowed these terms from the construction industry: Brownfield sites are those in which redevelopment or reuse of the site is complicated by existing contaminants. Greenfield sites are clean, previously undeveloped land. Few IT Greenfield sites exist today. Brownfield is not, therefore, a technology or a product, but a new way of executing big IT projects. It is a new way to eat elephants.

    http://www.bloganol.com/2008/11/revolution-crunch-template-for-blogger.html
